Systems

The Salk Institute, a Two-channel Audio System by Boybees

Room Size
14 ft. along axis of speaker drivers. 12 feet wide, no wall on left
System Overview
The name of my system makes sense when you look at the components. It's a tribute to the design and craftsmanship of Jim Salk and his team at Salk Signature Sound.
Music Preferences
Classic rock, indie-alt rock, jazz (be-bop, cool jazz, piano trios), classical (chamber music, romantic, modern composers, film scores), reggae, dub, electronic, ambient
Acoustic Treatment
Walls behind and to the right of the listener are mostly covered with acoustic panels. Wall behind the speakers has two large bookshelves full of books. Open space to the left of the listener. Listening furniture is a large plush sectional couch. High ceilings. Room is carpeted.
Listening Impressions
The room is quiet, well-insulated from external noise, well-deadened by the acoustic panels. I can play music at high SPLs without disturbing others in the house.

Other Components
Dedicated line (6 AWG wire) out of main panel to sub-panel adjacent to listening room. Sub-panel wired directly to pair of Hubble hospital grade electrical outlets that supply audio components. System is thus isolated from all other electrical devices in house.
