Hi Guys:
I read so much about a cd transport and Dac combination that were better than a regular cd player
I had to hear it for myself. I have a Cambridge Dac magic plus and I bought a Cambridge CXC transport.
I compared it to a Marantz SA8004 cd player. The Cambridge Dac has dual Wolfson WM 8740 24-bit Dac's
Don't know what Dac is in the Marantz.
The Cambridge combination sounds very good. The Marantz sounds very good. I ran both of them at the same volume.
I think the Cambridge has a wee bit better top end. That is the only difference in both players.
The Cambridge combination is cheaper than the Marantz. Maybe by $300.00 cheaper.
That is all I have to say. I hope my findings helps someone looking for a new cd.
Cheers

Hi Guy:
I figured if I already had a Cambridge dac I might as well buy their transport.
Don't want to be switching dac's and transports all the time.
Cambridge makes very good audio gear.

I am a big fan of dedicated transport feeding DAC. Especially with Ethernet. If one uses SPDIF go BNC connection. My 2 cents.

I had super results using the CXC via a Lifatec Optical cable too. It killed my at the time Marantz SA14 LE (2k) as a transport.
Since I play CeeDee's Im thinking about buying another and stashing it.
