They were excedeed by the HD800S, worth mention Amazon are not loss money selling it at $510.95/32% less, they were overpriced since day one.

Even if the Sennheiser HD800 where the same price as I paid for my HD650,
I would not buy them,
because when I tried them,
I found that the were too big (Ear cup) and not comfortable,
however, the sound was better than my HD650,
normal at three times the price...

By the way:
If I did not know what to do with my cash, meaning I had lots to spare,
I would not hesitate and go for the top of the line STAX.
I had a pair 35 years ago and today I am still kicking my butt for selling them.

I've heard the Stax SR009 and they do the best 'disappearing act' (sonically) of any headphone I've ever heard. And for only $5K!

35 years ago I've owned a pair of Stax I think it was the Lambda ???
(Black - rectangular shape)
Everything with them was good.
Sound as clear as crystal, nice bass, very dynamics.
35 years later I still kick my xxx on a daily basis.
Why did I do something so stupid ?
What was I thinking ?
Well, I was young and ~~stupid~~ inexperienced.
Well, 35 years later I am less demanding and my Sennheiser HD650
with Bottlehead Crack satisfy me.

Thanks for the advice FullRangeMan, but I am a Sennheiser guy.
I'm also trying to cut down on my audio investment and also scale down my audio set up.
I am a lot less demanding now at 68 years old.

I cant say you are wrong, keep only your HD650 and the Crack is very practical and convenient to a apt home.

By the way, if one day I am really short of space in my house or more likely my apartment,
I will go for a Schiit Magni2 or Schiit Jotunhelm (DAC-HP Amp.) with of course my HD650,
all that on the condition that the above is still available and that my HD650 are still
operational ? ? ? ?
(Schiit Made in USA with USA parts and labor
