My PC experience is limited to 3 cords ranging in price from $200 ~ $2000. Sure they make a difference, but in most cases, not enough to justify the expense - IMO. Maybe I'm just blessed with cleaner than average power.
The first thing people notice about "high end" cables is the looks. It sure seems like that is an important part of marketing them.
