Introduction makes sense as a companion to their world-beating digital IPod dock (takes digital from iPod, like only a few folks like Wadia had done up till now. 

It's funny, these humungous Asian manufacturers can really produce state-of-the-art if they want to, but it often gets thrown out with the bathwater here in these markets cuz we equate the brand to mid-fi.  However, some of the greatest sounds from RMAF and CES came from Sony speakers (intro to US in April for $25k/pair.)

It wouldn't surprise me if they had an ethernet port too and need to be permanently in contact with $ony headquarters in order to check if the audio you're trying to play is "authorized" or not.
