Man, you guys need to be careful with sending a full range signal through those resistors that are likely only 10 or 12 watt rated. Those things are going to burn up and something else up with them if you are not careful. I would highly recommend against doing that.

You're right, Danny, and I've been remiss in pointing that out -- thanks for bringing it up.

I had thought of that when I was putting the crossover together, and concluded that in this application with the amps I use and the levels that I listen at I was well within ratings.

For some of you guys using single digit amps it will be fine, but you never know what someone might hook up to them. I have seen them catch fire and burn a spot on the inside of the cabinet.

Go head and let them play to their natural level and adjust the tweeter accordingly. Then power those low frequency woofers with a separate plate amp. This is a good inexpensive solution that gives you a ton of flexibility. I just came out with a new plate amp just for open baffle applications that would be a good consideration if you needed one.
