Title: 5751?
Post by: pubul57 on 6 Mar 2010, 08:23 pm
Will the 5751 work well in a RM10 as a substitute for the 12AX7s? With 3V from the EMM CDSA, I don't think I need the additonal gain in the 12ax7 - just not sure if the 5751 works well in this circuit.

Where's Roger when you need him? Geez, you'd think someone out there can answer this one.

His phone works. Better method than this board. I've always caught him by phone. :)

It will work, but the plate and cathode resistors would have to be altered to allow the 5751 to work optimally in that circuit.  Also, the difference in gain will not be that significant.  The 12AX7 has a maximum mu of 100 and the 5751 has a maximum mu of 70.
