AVA opinion on the new digital amps?

The ones I have heard are painfully clear and painfully non-musical.  All the musical emotion filtered out, the notes are all there, but not the musicians or the performance.  Its not where we want to go.

Hi Frank,

I've extensively listened to bel canto digital amplifiers and they do so many things right.  Speed, transparency, tubey sound but i agree 100% they lack emotion imo.

Hmm, the descriptions of digital that I'm hearing are almost precisely the same things I remember hearing about CD's 20 years ago when they first came out.

That actually gives me hope that just as CD players improved, perhaps it's too early to render final judgement on the amps too.

Thanks gents, your comments are much appreciated :!:

I have to wonder if they've taken a device that screws up the signal 20,000 times a second, and substituted one that screws it up 600,000 times a second. :)
