As in the beginning, the Ernie Ball 2248 stainless steel strings and the D'Addario JS60 stainless steel banjo strings make the custom gauge C# string set and it works in C# standard tuning!  The intonation is set on the SG Special and it feels good, but you have to use a light touch!  Now on to playing some Black Sabbath!

WOOHOO! :)

Have so many left over parts from the SG project, I was wondering what to do with them.  I stumbled across a Gibson SG Special 60's tribute body that has no hardware.  It looked very naked and needing to be dressed up.  Supposedly mint condition and never played.

Should be here next week for refit with the original parts.

You're going to end up with a whole room full of SGs at this rate.
I always liked the white one Buck Dharma played in the early BOC days.

Well lets try out the new AC for the thread.

Here is the SG Special body with parts starting to be installed.  This is just a test fit of the Schaller tuners and they fit perfectly into the original holes.

This will give me a way to try a few things before deciding on what is the final configuration.

A family photo of the SG Specials.

Various stages of trying new parts to get the tonal quality I am looking for.

The Laney GH50L head and Output Tamer power soak arrived.  Found a good starting point for the controls.  Time to crank this puppy up!  :)

They do say to break-in the power soak gradually, as it will smoke.   Oh Baby!

Not quite so fast!  The Output Tamer was the wrong impedance for the speaker!  Sent it back and the correct one should be here soon.

Good news from SDCS, they are now working on two versions of the 9 Pole Simplux copy.  Once completed, they will send me both to evaluate in the SG's.

Now the wait really begins!

Was feeling nostalgic and had these made.  Will have a few to give away!

That's quite a hike for a guitar pick but I've been known to do stranger things...

Had some friends over that I have known since High School yesterday to jam before the Cheap Trick and Blondie concert.   Had a great time riffing Black Sabbath tunes and lots of other stuff like Cream.

Here is the guitar rig picture ready for tuneage.

Another pair of pickups to try out.

A John Birch Magnum 2 neck and Gibson Tony Iommi Signature bridge pickups.  These will go in a 1984 Gibson SG Standard body that I found.  Should be here this week to start building.

Since the HB size pickups will not fit into the SG Special pickup cavities, found a 1984 Gibson SG Standard body to install the pickups and parts.  It arrived today and is in really good shape!  A bit of buffing and it will look really good after the parts are installed.
