The M-Audio 2496 Audiophile pci audio card for the computer  has an S/PDIF out and the card works under asio.

For the  very different price what is a good reason to buy the off ramp to stream files from the hdd to an external DAC and so bypass the cd transport?

I understand the M-audio card and Foobar etc. can also bring "pure" digital stream out of the comp to an external DAC?

Simple.  Sound quality is better, a lot better.  Several of my customers have upgraded from Audiophile USB to Off-Ramp Turbo 2.  Even the New Freeway 2 is better.

Any takers??
