dburna I am with you on the recent simplification.  I went back to a Sugden integrated, Totem Model 1's, a DIY sub, and an Allo Boss DAC.  Not enjoying music any less, though perhaps the last 5% is missing. 

Well, a Sugden integrated is hardly 'slumming it'. That's an excellent amp.

This is what i do. It works well and is a relatively inexpensive and quality solution (assuming you get a dac that has a decent volume control integration).

The Auralic Aries G1 has two digital outputs that can be used simultaneously and a (digital, of course) volume control.
