1st order crossover design questions newbie
« on: 16 Jul 2021, 09:04 pm »
I’m attempting to build a open baffle speaker with a PAP type driver arrangement.  My drivers are different however.  I purchased 2 Lavoce Wan 154.01 per speaker and I have a pair of tang and 1808’s I’m repurposing from a previous open baffle speaker which was crossoverless.  I am trying to figure out a first order crossover and found a site loudspeaker cookbook with formulas for figuring out inductance and capacitance.  With the driver parameter sheets I have calculated an inductance of 84mh and a capacitance of 23mf on the tang ban.  My dilemma and question is that I am running two woofers in parallel not a single woofer and I don’t know the implications of that.  For example do I need to double the inductance meaning a coil for each woofer per speaker.  The impedance of the woofers is 8 ohm.  I’m trying to keep this as simple as possible.
Thanks,

Elton

If you parallel the two drivers you would halve the series inductance.

If you parallel two 8 ohm speakers then the resistance is 4 ohms and your crossover calculations should be done with that in mind.
