Song Tower ribbon tweeter retrofit?
« on: 20 May 2009, 10:39 pm »
Is it possible to retrofit STqwt with owii/owiV's with LCY Ribbon tweeters? Is it a matter of just popping out the domes and inserting the ribbons?  Are the crossovers the same?  Which LCY ribbon's are used in the ST(110/130) or different?

Thanks

Shane

I'm afraid the answer is no--on so many levels.  First, even if the crossover would work, the lcy ribbon (it's the 110) won't fit in the 0w2 hole--either the flange cutout or the drill hole.  It's not even close.  The lcy is much bigger and also requires that the woofers be moved a little further apart.  And the crossovers are completely different.  Oh--and I built in a self destruct circuit that will blow up the speakers if anyone takes a jig saw to the existing cutouts.  And there's a tax penalty.   :nono:
