What is the excursion of drivers like the RS5?
« on: 17 May 2016, 07:57 pm »
More for curiosity than anything.  For drivers like the RS5, what is the excursion conservatively speaking - peak to peak?  Wondering how far these drivers and move in and out without damage.  I'm not close to maxing mine as I'm in a small room and 70db is more than I listen to normally but there are peaks in music that goes beyond 70db obviously .

Thanks

Hi Ultralight,

Thanks and the Xmax is about 1.5mm and the Moving mass is very light at 1.9 grams.

They are super fast drivers.

Thanks again,
Louis

Yes, they are very fast indeed. My ears ear it - which is why I absolutely love the transients/resolution of the RS5.  Nothing in the Super 3i price range even remotely comes close to my ears.  And the bipoles is a huge step, to my ear, on top of that in terms of warmth and power. Transient speed is the same.
