I've become a big fan of these box sets.  I just bought the Phillips collection, the Bernstein Symphony Edition, and I've had the Barbirolli set for about a year.

I wish I were just getting into this hobby, because I could have bought 80% of what I want/need for about $500, rather than the many thousands I've spent.

I love these box sets also, especially the original jackets editions.

I recently purchased the Philips and have about half of the dsiscs processed into my music server.  I find I prefer box sets that are centered around labels rather than composers or artists, though I have plenty of them too.

The Label box sets get me recordings that I normally wouldn't buy but after listening to them, I'm glad I have them.

The composer box sets make for good reference recordings but I have no desire to listen to everything a composer ever wrote.  Same is true for artist box sets.
