Hello All...

I really enjoy listening to a solo violinist.

Straight up solo violinist.

Is there any one that can recommend a CD that would fill the bill...?

The most famous works for solo violin are the JS Bach Sonatas and Partitas. There are many wonderful recordings of these works by famous violinists. My favorites are the sets by Viktoria Mullova and by Rachel Podger.

Oh yeah, and the Paganini Caprices are also a lot of fun, particularly from a super-virtuoso like Ehnes:

I really like the Israeli Me.Slomo Mintz, great on solo works:
Bach partitas: http://www.amazon.com/Bach-Sonatas-Partitas-Johann-Sebastian/dp/B000001GNR/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1310334669&sr=1-1

The recordings as usual on big labels companies are close-up.

Look for any of the solo violin works of Max Reger. Wonderful late Romantic pieces that will charm and fascinate you. The one linked to below has absolutely ravishing performances and sonics:

Tyson,

Thanks for the recommendation.  I bought it and I like it a lot.  Interesting music played very well.  Listening to it right now (on my AudioKinesis Jazz Modules, which are just wonderful for any kind of chamber music).

Henryk Szeryng doing the Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin. Absolutely riveting in it's expression.

Also Ricardo Ricci on this one:
