Not currently shown as an option and I know that I could ask directly. Just curious if this finish would be of interest to anyone else. The finish color has no affect on my desire to get a pair of x5. I dont think that it would affect the sound  :green:

I think Spatial try to keep the standard colors to a minimum. Must be a lot of of additional time to do different colors all the time.

Recently ask Clayton to do my Sapphires in a color called Sandbar 50% lighter (Sapphires currently in production i believe. (This Color was recommended by a color scheme specialist) The reason is my house is in terracotta colors and the standard colors on offer do not match well with Terracotta. The Sandbar is a really nice neutral color that will blend in easily with most Terracotta interiors(I find this color quite classy myself).

Although Speakers can be/is a visual piece of art i think if it blends into the surrounds the Wife/partner esp will be more pleased. Sometimes we go for these vivid colors that demands your eye from afar and actually stand out drastically(way way more thank it should). Perhaps if they are asked what colors they would like they would be more tolerant of our passions. Besides.... we are after the sound after all.... :duh:

My Reasoning? I want the speakers to disappear, esp when i listen to music. So it doesn't make sense for me to get speakers that demand i look at them all the time, esp when they are playing. How will i get them to disappear if they poke me in the eyeball 24/7? If they are more/completely unobtrusive they may aid psychologically to blend  "into the back ground" and allow the speakers to disappear altogether whilst the music is playing..

That said some people like to make statements with their gear, perhaps best to let the sound make the statement. After all that is what moves people for a very very long time...

White is great, because you can change the entire look/feel of the speaker by simply changing the color of the grill cloth.

They have used a different baffle material, also very dense, which provides a better quality finish for solid color painted versions. If I wanted color I'd just use a vinyl wrap myself.

I would have loved Audi Nogaro Blue like I had on my Focal Sopra No 2's.

When I get ready to purchase them, I will bug Clayton and ask if he would do another color speaker grill clothe. The white plus a lighter gray really peaked my wife's interest. I won't bug him now though.

I got the satin red color.  Clayton called me and explained that painting the ultralam is extremely difficult.  He urged me to use his specially designed MDF which he said was every bit as good as the Ultralam.  I did it.

What kind of vinyl wrap would you use?  I just ordered a new pair of X-3’s for my new home and am looking at color options.  Would a vinyl wrap work over any of the wood veneers or only over a satin finish?

Since my speakers are in the main living area, I'm from the school of thought that says "they need to put as big of a smile on my facing looking to them as they do listening to them".

You may notice on the Spatial Website that the X5s are offered in a gloss automotive finish for a $1000 up charge.  So, if blue is your preference.......

I had mine wrapped for $200.  Looks great, can be removed, could change colors, etc.

The Sanbar 50 % lighter has a shade of grey to it as well.... just saying.

Standard 3M automotive wraps. Yes, it will work although there are sometimes voids in the laminated baffles that would telegraph through to the wrap. HDF base would be better.
