I've been listening to a ton of NPR live "tiny desk concerts". There's just something very unique about the format - bands playing 3 songs in an unplugged acoustic format in a bookshelf lined office with surprisingly decent acoustics and recordings (for youtube videos at least). Very intimate and up close and personal.

A few really good performances:

- Rodrigo y Gabriela - flamenco metal! Plus, how many man/woman guitar duets does one get to hear anyway.

- Vijay Iyer Trio (not sure if I have posted this earlier) - I am a jazz novice but something about this performance and the timing changes just has me listening again and again. Especially the complete change at around 13 and 18 minutes or so.

- Sylvan Esso - other side of the spectrum. Electronica. But so well performed and so effortlessly too.

Good stuff. Thanks, asliarun.

In the first clip it sure would have been nicer to have more of the woman in the mix, sonically.

Those "Tine Desk" concerts are awesome. I've subscribed to a few YouTube channels that have similar acoustic(ish) "in-studio" type recordings.

Anybody heard of JJ Grey?
