Nelgan Acoustics website launch
« on: 17 Apr 2003, 02:14 pm »
After more than 1 1/2 years of development, Nelgan Acoustics has opened for business. The website is still thin, and will have a subwoofer and 5.1 coaxial package added. The 5.1 package will be up by this weekend, the subwoofer in one month.
The purpose of this post is to have folks check out the website and offer feedback/comments/suggestions regarding what information they would like to see that is not currently offered on the site. Only a few pairs of speakers have been sold thus far, so reviews are forthcoming.
I would like to make this a site that is extremely consumer friendly, so I greatly appreciate any feedback.

Cheers,

Neil

It might be useful if you had a section on your website that explained the principles of a "two way ported coaxial design" for people like me who don't really know what that means.

Thanks.

OBF,

Thanks for taking a look. In essence, this is different from a traditional 2 way ported speaker only in that the tweeter is mounted in the center of the woofer where you would normally see a dustcap or phaseplug. In actuality, the sonic differences are substantial. Imaging is outstanding with this driver configuration. I'll look at adding another page that clarifies the design principles.

Thanks so much!

Neil

Welcome Neil,
glad to see you are joining an already fine group of mfgr direct members.
It's great to see you have a generous audition/return policy.
I've been known to play around with a few speakers in my time.
Perhaps at some point, some of us members will get a chance to audition and review your creations.

Do you mind disclosing where you source your drivers from? I've got  coaxials from Seas that I use as surround speakers mounted in the celing of my HT. They are good, but not real hi-rez.

These too are Seas drivers, but not standard ones. Both woofer and tweeter have been tweaked, along with frame modifications. The stock driver is quite nice, but just a bit shy of excellent in terms of speed and clarity. But I'm sure yours are doing fine duty as surround units.
Thanks for checking out the site!
