Hello,

I have been following this circle with great interest and would love to hear the NCore amps. I am in Rockland, New York and was wondering if anyone in my area would be willing to permit an audition.

Thank you for your consideration.

For 7-10 days have available for audition AudioKinesis' latest prototype MI speaker cabinet for bass and any acoustic instrument including double bass, arch top guitar, violin, etc (not ideal for distortion effects).  Power with my Ncore mono amp.  Bring any instrument and MI preamp.

Really looking forward to hearing NCores with my AudioKinesis Prismas.

Really looking forward to hearing NCores with my AudioKinesis Prismas.

If possible, send me a link to your comments.  Duke's speakers, including this "1544" (15", dual 4") MI cabinet are just fantastic.  Prisma sounded great even with a 100W receiver rated only for 8 Ohms.  Ncore rated 600Wrms @ 2 Ohms and better sonics, so you know that combination is golden.  Be prudent with the "loud" control!

Great idea for a thread.

I am in the Cincinnati, OH area (west side...almost by the Indiana border).  Within the next few days, my nCore monoblocks will be finished (one is running now...other to be wired tomorrow...).  I'd be glad to demo them.

Thanks for the heads up!

But damn, I did not see the reply until Monday morning. Anyway, I could not have made it last Saturday morning.

It does occur to me that with all of the possible configurations resulting from the choice of cables, cases, connectors, and other tweaks, it is hard to say what effect these will all have on the sound of the amplifier and that there is possibly no one reference product in any event. It would be interesting if someone has compared different builds and heard significant variations.

Regards,

Swelfelo

I am also building a LRD3x passive pre from Morten at Tortuga audio which should be done in about a month.

Hello jtwrace,
this is indeed very nice of you to start this thread.
I'm in nearby GSO. I was wondering if these amps can drive a 1-Ohm Apogee Scintilla? In the <200Hz region the impedance of these speakers is something like 0.8-0.9 Ohms (nearly a dead-short!). The impedance in this region is almost purely resistive (unlike cone driver speakers which are quite heavily capacitative thereby giving the amp a real headache). So, the Scintillas are a hard load but a 'benign' load, if I may say so.
I'm looking for a pair of class-D amps to biamp - drive the bass panel.
thanks for your (& other A-C members') insights.....

I"m sure the NCore's can do that viscous load as long as you're not listening at very high SPL's.
