Title: Spikes Thread Size
Post by: Captainhemo on 4 May 2016, 01:01 am
I have some inserts that fit the spikes Dany carries, I know they are 8mm.... does anyone know if they are designated course or fine  ?  I have someone  wanting to  use some casters  , not sure what   to tell him to buy

No metric tap/die set to check....

Jay,

They certainly look course to me. You could always pick up two 8mm bolts, one course and one fine, at your local hardware store to confirm.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are course, I  just didn't want the fellow to  end up buying the wrong the casters.
If someone doesn't  have the answer, I may just end up   hitting the  HW store as you suggest

How did things go at LSAF  ?

Jay,
M8x1.25 is the most common thread pitch. 1.25 millimeter is the distance between 2 thread peaks (^^) So the distance between 8 thread peaks (^^^^^^^^) is 10MM which shouldn't be too difficult to measure. A thread pitch gauge makes life easier.
