8" Sub Project
« on: 6 Feb 2011, 09:06 pm »
Yesterday I built a small sub for my bedroom system (GR N2X, Virtue One).  The sub is a copy of the 8" that was offered by AV123 but it uses Danny's SA-1 plate amp.  The sub is down firing with a vent at the top on the front.  I'm very pleased with the way it turned out, good on music and great on movies.

I see that the cold weather isn't slowing you down. You've been busy. And that looks really good.  :thumb:

Thanks guys.  I put a gas heater in my garage a couple of winters ago and I now wonder why I didn't do that the first year I bought this house.   :duh:

Production halted for a while because of Chinese new year. I'll know more on the status shortly.

I'm sure the drivers in this sub are OEM, so I'm not sure if they would work in an OB.

Looks great! I loved my X-Sub. Are you using the same 8" driver AV123 used?

Glad my SA amp made it to a good home!  Looks great - you gonna veneer it or paint it?

I have some of those drivers laying around, but what I have in development is in a different league.

My new 8" woofer is for free air applications and is servo controlled.  :thumb:

Hi Danny and all Audio Circle members.
Since the GR Research SA-1 ss plate amplifier is not for servo drivers and you told us that you will not have a GR Research ss plate servo amplifier, does that mean the only other choice to drive this new 8" sub woofer would be the Rythmik A370PEQ?

Yes its the same driver as AV123 used.  And the unit will be painted black to match my other speakers.

I love 8" drivers. Ever since my car audio days I've loved them. They can be so quick and accurate and hard hitting if implemented properly with still very good low end grunt. Looking forward to it Danny!

Wow, talk about an overpriced sub....

We are very fortunate to have Danny and Brian providing the very best for less.  An 8"
Servo OB Sub would be spectacular.
