Cobra is an excellent one, I think.  I know it is a departure from your typical naming convention, but it is also a departure from your typical speaker!

Gotta agree here...Cobra is a great name for these....

So far, I am favoring that one myself.

Should "Cobra" be selected, and a prize awarded, I donate 100% of the prize to Mr. Baker to trick these out with the woodwork and select parts that only Response Audio can do. Not that he doesn't already have enough on his plate.

For your sake, Bill, I hope the prize isn't a punch in the face or a kick in the crotch. Either way, pictures of the process are a must!

Thanks for the kind words nrenter.
There are many highly talented wood workers here at AC but I would accept your offer :green:

I have been working up a design for Danny's OB dual woofer subwoofers for some time now and I think you will really enjoy what I have come up with. It might take me a little time to get them done (yes, I want a stereo pair as well).

I also have 3 pair of Danny's OB speakers here now. Two OB-7s and one pair of OB-5s. One of each are still new flat packs in crates so I have a bare canvas to work with. I know I will not be able to meet the standards that Carlos has exhibited but I do have some idea in mind for a nice overall system appearance.

How about GR Magnums? If they go down to 20Hz, it seems like a good name.

Cobra is a great name.  Especially if the speaker will look like the drawings Danny posted.

May I suggest:

Nubia
or
Naja
or
OB Naja
or
OB Nubia

Here is why (info from Wikipedia)

"In 2003, a new species of cobra was discovered at London Zoo in a shipment of illegal exotic pets. When zoo scientists thought they had a new species, they brought in Dr. Wuster who confirmed their belief. Although bearing a resemblance to the Red Spitting Cobra, DNA tests confirmed that it is in fact a new species altogether. Studies indicated that it originated from an area of Egypt and Sudan formerly known as Nubia. The new species, Naja nubiae or Nubian Spitting Cobra, has since bred at London Zoo."

I think as a new design, or new species for Danny, this would be appropriate, while including the already excellent "Cobra" theme he likes.

Whatda you think?

I think that I like your thinking. It makes good sense, but I not real found of the name itself. I am not sure most people would even know how to pronounce it. It also requires the telling of the story for one to get it.

Nebula:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebula
             http://astro.nineplanets.org/twn/types.html

I don't know if Nebula is already in use (My limited search did not find any products.).  Since the speaker is an OB and it's about free air...

on the old beaten path I can only think of "OB Servo FR"
It does look like having some egyptian resemblance

OB Sphinx
Sphinx OB

On the other hand - a Full range speaker that is minimally sensitive to room interactions and is (hopefully) affordable ...

Would like to listen to them
