Anyone listening to 45s ? If not you don't  know vinyl .

I happened to be looking through Goodwills records today and came across about 40 45s. It's a funny thing , most 45s I see , happen to be ones  I've owned  in the past. Guess that's  what 45s are , pop.

Being in pristine condition,I decided to purchase ten of them for nostalgics.
Awsome! You all talk about PRAT. Add dynamics, life , exitement and involvment in spades.  I won't mention what my aquisitions  are as it is embarrasing.

45s are to 33s as 33s are to CDs. plain and simple.

C'mon, 'chef. Fess up. I'll admit to liking "Little Willie" if you tell us what you bought.

I have probably 40 Elvis Costello 45's, some Nick Lowe, stuff from the 70's and 80's but not the 60's.

Also I'll admit that I was so excited about the upcoming ABBA LP that I bought "Does Your Mother Know" on a 45 before the album came out.

So, you have nothing to fear...Guilty pleasures welcome!

I have a few 45 rpm 12 inchers that do sound lively, especially the Cult's "Love Removal Machine".    I wish there were more of this format available because they do sound great.

There is a whole collection of Jazz reissue in 12" 45's at Acoustic Sounds if you are willing to spend $45 each.   A few 12" 45's I have definitely sound better then their 33 counterparts, but the darned thing is over so quick.  Is there a device that will raise the tone arm when it gets to the end in case you fall asleep?

You fall asleep during the course of a 45 rpm side!?  Either you have narcolepsy or that is some insanely boring music!

I have a couple hundred 45's...about 75 from the 1950's including some indie TX early rock releases.

I also have a stack of indie early 80's alt. rock/new wave singles which are great memorabilia and collectable items....Lou Miami and the Kosmetix in a cosmetics bag for example.

There's also several 12" 45 rpm items I find interesting.

The problem with 45 singles is the flipping from record to record...it's enough to break out the old stacker.

expressimoaudio.com has a device to lift the tonearm at the end of play. involves drilling in the base plate so not for the faint of heart. i simply try not to fall asleep.
