This really has nothing to do with my present build but I had to share it. I ran into a friend the other day ( another woodworker) and we were talking and I told him I was building a new sub. He said he had four sheets of veneer he would love to give me because he had no place to store it anymore.

This is 2' x 8' but much of it will be unusable because of the spitts and the way it was stored. But and I am sure I get another pair of speakers out of it. So now, what to build and still keep my marriage in tact. :o

The NX-Studios would fit very nicely on top of your new OB subs.  Just sayin'......

Shot a little varnish today, my go to finish is Zinsser Quick Statin 15. Dries fast, durable and looks great.

This is the backside trimmed in Cherry.

Looking great as always.

Gotta say - this is one of the best/most intriguing builds I’ve seen in awhile. Great combination of the OB H-Frame Subs with the sand enclosure that I don’t think has ever been done before. Great seeing new ideas!

Now I’m wondering about installation of No-Rez. Covering all that beautiful work is almost sacrilege, but I think it really is needed.

Will it stick to that finish?

Looking forward to listening impressions.

Thanks.

I am skipping the no-rez. That was the reason for making the sandbox version of the H frame. I do not know if it will work for sure but I thought I would try it. And yes I am pretty sure the no-rez will stick the the surface if need be.

All wrapped and ready to spray the backside.

I decided to go old school with this part and use  truck bed liner spray. I had a couple of cans sitting around so why not.l

I really like how the black looks with the cherry. Can't wait for the cherry to turn that dark red color.

So I finally finished this project up. Here are a few photos. I should have taken these outside to get some better pics but they were heavy.

Here are a couple with a flash to show off the figure in the wood.

Thanks for Looking.

After I had a little time on my sub I could not wait to put Dire Straits- Ride across the river SACD in. Oh man it was glorious. Now as soon as my audio budget gets refunded next year I will finish the second one. Nice thing is, is that everything is done all I have to do is plop the drivers in the box. :thumb:

Thanks all. Now as soon as the tube connectors come in, I can proceed with the X-statik upgrades.

Nothing wrong with black painted speakers, I have done plenty of them myself and I love the look. Woodworking is about trying and failing, I just do not post the failures. :D

Online, you only ever see people's "highlight reel." You don't see the many more struggles & failures that helped them get to where they are now.
You really shouldn't judge your own journey against others successes, instead you should use it as goals to keep striving for.
