Roon Ready Plans
« on: 31 Mar 2021, 07:15 am »
Knowing that Roon is an increasingly popular audio platform in the world of audiophiles and that more and more brands are joining to be compatible and certified as Roon Ready ... Does Nuprime have any plans to certify or develop any Roon Ready equipment in the future?

Finally, was the Omnia A300 streamer officially certified as Mqa compliant?

Regards!

Roon is a media platform and certifying or not has no effect on the performance of Nuprime products. We already have customers using Roon server with Nuprime products. In the 2018 Munich High End Show, we use a Roon server for demo.

MQA decoding can be done by the receiving mobile or computing device or by the firmware inside the A300. The result is the same. Omnia A300 currently doesn't support MQA decoding but when available, it can be done through over the air firmware update.

As explained by Roon, the Roon Ready functionality is essential to provide a superior audio quality to the rest of the equipment of non-certified brands and ensures optimal audio performance with certified equipment... I copy some explanations that Roon gives about it:

RAAT (Roon Advanced Audio Transport) is the backbone of Roon's audio distribution technology.

It is designed to support a wide range of software and hardware applications without format support restrictions or quality compromises. It provides rich user experiences by integrating with displays, buttons, volume controls, and source switching capabilities.

It enables you to play your Roon music to:
Roon Ready hardware devices
Audio outputs, sound cards, and USB DACs connected to the Core.
Audio outputs, sound cards, and USB DACs connected to any computer or device running Roon Bridge
Audio outputs and USB DACs connected to Android devices running Roon Remote.
We like to think of RAAT as AirPlay for Audiophiles.

In November of 2015, we released the Roon Ready SDK to hardware manufacturers to enable them to create hardware products that speak RAAT. Since then, over 50 Roon Ready products have been introduced, and more products are in progress on an ongoing basis.

‘Roon Ready’ means the DAC or other device being certified complies with all Roon Labs requirements to fully allow for all Roon’s considerable functionality.

By virtue of all that, it would be interesting and a great plus for a brand like Nuprime, which is oriented to produce audiophile quality equipment, to have the Roon Ready certification.

Has this "private" conversation ever spawned further cooperation between NuPrime Audio and Roon?

I would love to buy an (updated) A300 SE with Roon capabilities. Also any updates on MQA support?

Roon "ready" required firmware to communicate with Roon server.  Since we are using LinkPlay wireless module in our streaming products, the integration is best done by LinkPlay. Since LinkPlay is used by just about everyone else, I think sooner or later Roon will be supported.
Roon "ready" is not a requirement for using Roon as long as our streamer supports DLNA.
