1D or 2D Diffusion for Line Source Planars?
« on: 12 Jun 2018, 02:15 pm »
I have a question about a topic that comes up periodically on the planar boards. Specifically, if you're putting diffusers at the first reflection points on the front wall behind Maggies or other full-height line source dipoles, should you use 1D or 2D diffusers, or does it make no difference?

I'm wondering if someone has tried it both ways and has some practical experience or measurements . . .

My two cents having thought about this with my maggies.  1D if you are using absorption in other places at listening height (maggies act as a line source vertically), 2d if you want to scatter more energy through the room.  Note, I have no evidence my belief is correct, just my thoughts.
