EAD 7000 mods
« on: 11 Dec 2005, 03:15 pm »
Many months ago I needed help from Steve Nugent with my CD system. I had an old Pioneer CD player which I used as a transport for an EAD -7000iii DAC. I sent off the Pioneer to Steve for a tranport mod, and upon checking it out it appeared that the unit needed to be replaced. Steve found a Sony DVP-S7700 player for me, modded it, and sent it to me. He was extraordinarily fair about the costs! Then he modded my EAD7000iii DAC. My system is now so much better now than when this started. The EAD has a lot of features I like - two coax inputs, a HDCD chip, etc. I use it a lot and would not like to replace it if I could avoid doing so.  Even though it is not the last word in DAC's, Steve's mods have brought it as close to perfection as it is likely to get. For those of you with old EAD's or want to pick up a used one on Audiogon, etc., I strongly recommend that you get Steve to mod it for you. You won't regret it. The Sony alone sounds wonderful as well, and is superb as a transport.
