Power cable for MacPro 5,1

Have my music collection stored on a MacPro 5,1 and play music via a Devialet Expert Pro and a pair of ATC SCM 19 speakers. Wonder if you have seen any benefits to updating the power cable of the MacPro and if so what cable you ended up using

I have the same MacPro 5,1 and I use the factory power cable hooked to a decent $25.00 surge protector.  Make sure the wall socket is properly grounded.  I found using a better than zip cord audio cable output - mini jack to RCA (L,R) did improve audio quality going into the preamp.  Hope this helps.

Timpken using an outboard USB DAC would be far better than using mini jack to RCA, at least that way you are getting the conversion away from the noisy environment.

I have a 5,1 MacPro too, but I only occasionally use it to play music.

No question outboard DAC. I use Audirvana on my MacBook Pro to an RME-ADI-FS. A good usb cable is recommended. I use the Synergistic Research Atmosphere X Reference. Great results

i tried a bunch of inexpensive but well made PC's on my mac pro 3,1
and every one made the music sound subtly significantly different

so yes, i would say it makes a diff/improvement, even when connected to a power filter.

ymmv.  :D

Don’t you find the MacPro noisy for server duty? I swapped mine out for a macMini.

Running all SSD and if the machine is not being pushed hard, it runs quiet.

I'm curious.  Which Mac mini did you move to?
