Several years ago I bought 4 of your panels that were displayed at one of the Southern California Audio Shows. i love them. I have experimented with placement and finally have them where I want.
Life is good.
FF a ways. My wife decides to paint the room. I like it because it darkened the room (better for listening and viewing IMO), but now the panels are almost a distraction. i don't want to start over with new panels (I see you now have a variety of styles/colors/finishes available - NICE!).
Is there a way to darken these down some w/o ruining their appearance?
They are from the Impression Series - Blonde Veneer, Gatsby Arches. 2" thick and 4'x2' in size.
Would love to take them to a med gray tone. Thanks for any suggestions or experiences.

If they have polyurethane or some other sort of clear coat,you could primer them and paint.I'm not familiar with how the top panel is attached to the backing,but you would have to remove it first.

Assuming your blond veneer is the same type of printed laminate material as that used in my grey elm GIK panels, you should be able to paint these with no issues but a finish that looks like a stain would be trickier. The laminate material isn't going to absorb stain like a wood finish, so application of a semi transparent or transparent stain is going to work like a glaze instead of a stain. If you are skilled at faux finishing, no problem. I'd use an acrylic glaze finish instead of an oil based wood stain though if you want a semi trans or transparent finish. As previously mentioned, you'll need to remove the rigid panel you're refinishing from the fabric panel first. Good refinishing practice for a repaint with opaque paint generally holds that scuffing the finish first with sandpaper of appropriate grit is good practice.

Just an idea.... how about adhesive backed vinyl and cut out all the holes after with an Exacto?

Another thought....after removing the top panel you may be able to paint the back side more easily than primering and painting the veneered side.Then if you wanted the wood side out later on you'd have a choice.
