Criterion Review (http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/speakers/messages/117798.html)

Talked to Danny yesterday and just got in line for for a pair of Criterions to demo. He indicated that there are 8 pairs out and about, so hopefully I won't have to wait too long. Look forward to inserting them in my current system
Cheers.

I have eight pairs of Demo units out there, but only three of them are Criterions.
And the list grows longer daily...
-
Danny,
Woops, sorry for mishearing you and possibly creating some unrealistic expectations. However long the wait, I'm sure it will be worth it and it can't be as long as I had to wait for my Odyssey stratos.

I just got on the list also. :thumb:
He said it would be about two months.
I guess I need to figure out how to improvise some stands when they get here.
-
good, no, very good stands are very important

audiojerry, will my sound anchors be good enuff?
hey danny, i signed up a *long* time ago, any e.t.a.? :)

Hey Doug,
Sorry about it taking a while.
I tried to schedule them in order of how close each person is to one another to keep them from getting shipped back and forth, to minimize shipping time, and to minimize shipping cost to everyone.
I have only one guy in PA ahead of you and then you will be getting a Maple pair.
-
thanks, danny, for the update. do these have the latest crossover update you mentioned earlier?
doug s.
-
Yes, but the update was nothing major.
I changed the value of one of the resistors in the tweeter leg of the circuit by .5 ohms to allow the tweeter level to come up slightly.
-
danny, do ya know whether or not the demo pair cut-throat was using, had the mod? he mentioned the bass prominence of the speakers...
doug s.
-
Yes, the pair that Cut-throat reviewed also had the slight adjustment that elevated the highs a little.
I think he may have had some type of room node or something that was causing a slight elevation in the bottom end.
No one else has mentioned that same observation and they do not seem too prominent in the bottom end here.
-
well, personally, i can't se an eton 5.5" driver having a problem w/elevated bass. and, if crossed over to a sub, i think this would be minimized even more. my present monitors use a 6.5" eton midwoofer, & these are excellent drivers, imo. looking forward to trying the criterions! :)
