yes, fine interface it is.
For me the most important feature is playing an album with one click (not having to make a playlist first) and doing that in the right order. Mpad does that and more. Fine interface. Nothing special of course....

James, have you thought about the little ticks and pops that come out of the speakers when starting to play and at the end.? Sounds just like the needle entering the record...
Or should this go to another topic? Thought it might have to do with the interface. then again maybe not.

Marius

I think it is just the DAC locking on to a different sample rate.

Yep you are right. thats a relief. thank you.

Still, it is peculiar.

Starting with nothing playing, the DAC reads 44.1 lock. I then select a recording that is in 96 and there are 2 little ticks. the samplerate selection first and then the lock. I stop playing and the Dac switches back to 44.1. Again 2 ticks. Resuming playing, it ticks again twice and locks into 96 and playing fine. Etc etc.

Why would it have to change the lock when there is no other sample rate selected? It sounds really unpretty, Maybe my specific circumstances of a very quiet piece of music that starts with the ambiance of the recording, ESL's, large amplifier (28b) and a balanced and thus louder connection between the BDA/BP26 and BDA/BDP aid to this, but still. would be nice if it could be avoided.

just a little experimenting:

playing the wonderful Mozart recordings on Linn http://www.linnrecords.com/recording-mozart-symphonies-29--31--paris---32--35--haffner----36--linz-.aspx in 24/192 the same thing happens. Even when pushing the pause button on the BR2 the two clicks happen. Select and lock. in pause it selects and locks 44.1 again, resume playing and it selects 192 and locks. really annoying to be honest...

Music sounding astonishing. :thumb:

No way around it I am afraid as the natural rest state for the BDP is 48k.  Can't you just listen to the recording and forget all the switching

Mine also "rests" at 44k but it used to be 48k.  Software change??

44k seems more natural to me.
People are more likely to have a lot more 44k material than 48k surely?

The driver in the sound card defaults to 48K due to it's professional heritage.

If the source you have plugged into it outputs other than 48K then the BDA-1 DAC will show that sample rate.

James,

I really don't understand this.
Which outputs do you mean? Bdp outputs to BDA, should be 48k then? it does 44k1. I have all inputs except the USB filled right now, BDA outputs to BDP but thats analog.

If you plug the BDP-1 into the BDA-1 and just turn them on the BDA-1 will show 48K on the front panel.

It really is not a big issue it is just the resting state of the sound-card in the BDP1.

it does indeed, when powering up.
after that, it defaults to 44.1. Maybe its just very unimportant, but still it's interesting to know. Is a specific input the cause of this?

Guys, I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, time for a change from the ol' iphone, is MPDroid the best app to control the BDP-1? are there any alternatives?

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

Thought to let you know that XBMC is a wonderful interface on any platform, maybe not to operate the BDP, but it reads the Stored files on HDD attached to it. Makes it a nice streamer.. :P Cool if you want to play elsewhere in the house, or even through http out of the house I guess.

Hi Marius, I don't understand how this controls the BDP-1 or am I missing something here?

Hi Terry,
As I wrote, it doesn't control the BDp1 (ie, I did not try yet, maybe they have a MPD in it too....), but it reads the attached HDD, Just like any other app that sees network stored files. not the front usb-thumbdrives I believe. Has a nice interface, is free, works like a charm.

Bit of topic then?

maybe , sorry for that.
on the other hand, I'm only trying to experiment with the BDP1 in different settings and software. Bdp1 not only plays connected files, but allows for remote software to play those same connected files also. Through different interfaces.
so bit on topic too.

Grts,
Marius

Thanks James, this is my first Android device so it will be interesting to see how I find it compared to the apple products that I'm used to.

Hi James. Do you find The Galaxy and MPDroid to be as good as the IPad app? I don't have either yet so just trying to find out which direction to go.
