I started applying finish today and would expect to be ready to install crossovers and drivers by the end of next week.  Pics will be posted (along with my impressions) as soon as this version is done.

I will start work shortly on a ported pair as well - just as soon as the owner-to-be selects his woods/veneers.

With three months lead time, I better see all the models before I decide!

That, and even some snaps of the unveneered prototype would be cool.  I'm just interested in getting a rough idea in my mind of what they'll be like.

There will be two versions.  The first (which will probably be ready to shoot photos of next week) will be a stand-mounted, sealed version of the HT2.  It will be 22" tall, 9" wide and 14" deep.  It will feature two black-coned W18's and an LCY tweeter (the client requested black cones for his home theater application and wanted black painted cabinets - so that's what they'll be).

This version requires the use of a subwoofer as bass response in the sealed cabinet falls of rather early.  You would want to cross at about 80Hz.

These could also be done as a floor-standing speaker, although the lower half would be sealed off since the extra cabinet volume is not required.

The second version of the HT2's will be ported.  These will be roughly 42" tall, 9" wide and 14" deep.  These will not require a sub (although you may like to use one).

Both speakers are classic MTM designs with the tweeter positioned between the two midwoofers.

I hope this helps.

Roughly what will the price be?  And performance wise how do they compare with the rest of the Veracity line?

That would be quite a road trip!  I wonder if my boss would mind if I was gone for a week.

Or is that the polite way to tell me to stop with the &%$@# question?

Hey,
I want you to know that my wife, 3 year old and my 2 week old did a road trip from Columbus to Port Angeles down to SanFran then back to Columbus.  We stopped thru your home town on that trek!!!
If my 2 week old could do it, you should have the gonads!...his were barely showing at that point
On that trek, I went and checked out speakers in El Sobrante!  More than 1/2 way across the continental US for a listen
And yes this was a little ribbing, but not serious.  I know exactly how you feel :!:

Hello Jim,
Thanks for the dimension.  The sealed version crosses at 80hz. What the (projected) frequncy response and nomial impedence for the ported version?  Since it is MTM, I assume perhaps it still requires a subwoofer for the lowest octaves.

Thanks,
-Howard

The impedance is around 5 ohms for the ported  It shouldn't be a problem.   My tone sweeps help up pretty firmly to around 40 Hz, with a smooth roll-off below that.  It won't shake the room, but there is a firm foundation.  With a sub, the sound should be excpetionally clean given the high quality of the drivers and the dual woofers.  But I haven't run it with a sub.
