How to use Line 5?
« on: 16 Mar 2005, 04:24 pm »
I'm so used to all-in-one HT Receivers that I'm having a hard time understanding how the Line 5 would be used in a HT system.

I'm thinking  the chain of components would be: DVD to a surround signal processor, to the Line 5, to 5 channels of amplification.

If that's the case, where would one find a surround processor?

From the look of the unit, and owner's manual, I would say that this is to be used between amp, and DVD player that has a built in decoding function - this is to say, that if your DVD player has 5 channel outputs, then you feed those into the MAD unit, and then tie your amps in from there.

This allows the use of tubes for surround, something that is very uncommon at this point, as far as I can tell.

Looks interesting!

Is anyone out there using one of these?  I've talked to Dr. Lloyd and he'll build one for me without the volume controls as they would not be needed in my application.  It would go between my pre/pro and power amp.
