hi all,
without warning, my m1 piano developed laser tracking problems. i immediately cleaned the laser in the usual manner, using a cleaning disk; there was no discernible improvement   .

the m1 is relatively new - two years oldand has not suffered any outside 'trauma': falling, bumping, shaking, etc. so, i am perplexed.

has anyone encountered a similar problem with laser tracking?

A common problem among all CDPs.  Usually the whole carriage is replaced, sometimes a bad belt can be replaced.  I've heard a little all purpose grease sparingly applied to the metal guide rails will do it, but that's never worked for me.  I'm sure VA would service it.

 i appreciate your virtuous offer, but packing and sending the cdp from boston to arizona would b, as you can imagine, a big deal. i just wanted a quick and trusted fix; so i  had the piano repaired by a trusted perdon:  cleaned optics and rebuilt the spindle and sled motors.  works like  a charm. repair guy was impressed by the piano (not unexpected)
