Seems like a good idea to have a thread for all the Sapphire owners to show their speakers...X series owners welcome as well :D
I will start, as you will see, my M3 Sapphires have a maple finish...they do a beautiful job of both showing the grain and reflecting the light.

Tarheel.....beautiful set up....I think we need to trade M3s in order to perfectly match decors in each of our rooms :)

Those look great! Is that the walnut finish?

Thanks guys! The wood is Sapele....a hardwood found in Nigeria. The cabinet conceals a turntable, CDP, Sweet Vinyl Sugar Cube, DAC, and phono pre. I was looking for a clean, less cluttered presentation which I achieved but at the cost of convenience. Turntable is on a pull out shelf. Exposed gear is a Node2i, PrimaLuna Dialog HP, and a Google Nest for wifi.
May be selling the subwoofer as I'm happy with the bass from the M4s.
Thanks Ron for guiding me through posting photos!

First pair of Spatials the M3 Turbo S. Good speakers but the Sapphires are better. Yep larger area rug too.
-
If you ever do want more bass, the best subs for OB speakers are the servo OB subs that GR Research offers. They are the only subs I've heard that are as fast and as clean as Clayton's speakers.

Nice!

Very handsome speakers.....now for break in!
-
Got about 3 hours on them this morning ,
Very bright up top but the bass is better than I’ve ever heard .
I’ve got a topping integrated setup to play looped cds while I’m away .
( no sense in wasting tubes ).
-
If you have some heavy quilts cover the Sapphires and allow them to burn in all night. I did that for 7 days and got about 84 hours on them. Probably up to 125-150 by now and they certainly do change for the better.

The Gen 3 base
(https://www.audiocircle.com/image.php?id=237968)
I believe I have the generation 2 base (if there is such a thing?)
What I like about the generation 2 base is its contrast of gray and black as well as its blue speakON connector which emphasize the modern industrial look of the rear of the speaker...and the length of the base as it looks to be longer than the generation 3 base. I'm thinking that the longer length could provide more stability in certain precarious situations.
What I like about the generation 3 base is the speaker connectors on the back vs the top. I'm using a cable made from 6 woven 14 gage wires resulting in two 9 gage legs that are relatively stiff. I had to do some bending and shaping of the cables (up and then down) to take the stress off the connectors.

The Gen 3 base is aluminum , I believe all prior are mdf .
-
I do wish my base had the cool label like the prior ones ..

From the top , it is way shorter than previous . They do feel very stable though .

Choosing the Ultralam over White was a tough call.
They sure look great in white.

Not even close, you made the right call! :thumb:

Got 58 hours on them now , the first 10 or so needed the high bands turned down on the the Lokius to
Keep me in the room but tonight I listened to a king Crimson live cd ( through my new PontusII dac )
And these speakers are really showing the goods …
Looking forward to 100 hours and beyond .

That room and speakers look amazing. Congratulations! Love seeing a symmetrical room with nothing big between speakers because you know it sounds good :)
-
Hey thanks , I’m pretty grateful to have a dedicated space .
This room is 33’ long which makes speaker and listening placement
Fun and easy to change . I’ve got a long way to go regarding room and treatment ,
See how I’m experimenting with diffusion  pretty ghetto

-
If you have not done so already watch some of Dennis's Acoustic Fields videos on YouTube. He gets into the math behind real diffusion to get it right.
PS Aint nothing wrong with Ghetto :)
-
I’ve seen a handful of the Acoustic fields videos and the website , he’s serious .
So far I have been playing with diffusion at 1st and 2nd reflection points .
The ceiling is low ( 7’) down in this basement and I’d like to find some sort of low profile
Diffusion for it .
-
No doubt that dude isnt playing around. My room is treated way more than most and Dennis would laugh at me if he saw it... All relative.
-
Lots going on between the speakers out of home office necessity.
Still, near-field this sounds very good with the M5s in my kid's old bedroom. The quality of the recording is now the only limiting factor . . .
-
I certainly know what you mean by recording quality ..
Can you tell me about you’re ceiling treatment ?
That may be exactly what I need in my low ceiling basement .
-
I hung six GIK monster base traps, three with diffusers inside, on the ceiling. Put four in the four corners. Added two freestanding ones for first reflections.
Mike at GIK advised me. He was great. His thing: full range bass traps as thick as possible is the best way to manage such a small room. You can’t overdo it he said. Happy as a clam.
-
Thank you , I’ll reach out to GIK
-
Correction. The ceiling traps are 244s. The corners are monsters.

Hi from one Tarheel to another Tarheel (born in Boone, have been in Georgia for about 40 years)
Can you please tell us the kind of wood and the finish on your M3s? I hope to have a pair of them in my future.
Thank you,
Charles
-
Greetings Charles.....the wood is Sapele a hardwood found in Nigeria. Clear finish. They are M4s by the way and fill my 14'x14'x16' room nicely. I had considered the X5s but Cloud at Spatial thought the M4s would be a better fit. The Sapele is an upgrade ($250) as I recall.
-
Thanks for the update. Sorry I missed it above.
Best,
Charles
