The dual Monos are still breaking in but along with the Odyssey Tempest and Chris Own's dAck!, my Magneplanar MGIIIA / Cerwin-Vega 189ES system has never been this satisfying!  Thanks Klaus!!!!

Man, that looks cool. Reminds me that I want some blue lights in my Stratos (Stereo)

I hope it sounds as nice as it looks.

Eduardo,

Be my guest-:)    But I'd appreciate being given a URL so I can see your Forum.   I've seen your posts here before but don't recall any mention of a Forum you run.   Or is it linked right off your Odyssey page http://www.odysseyaudiomx.com/ and I just don't see it?

Best!

PS that link at the bottom of my first post in this thread gives you a complete system description of what I'm running and if it's been modified.

Eduardo,

A friend found it for me:  http://miarroba.com/foros/ver.php?id=96338

And even found the post where you show my set up  http://miarroba.com/foros/ver.php?temaid=1405798&foroid=96368.
I was kind of curious which picture (or pictures) you'd use.  I'm honored that you're using my system picture to kick off a gallery thread!  Interesting and thanks!

  Good deal!

  All the best!

One last one, which is a timed exposure of the lights in the system.  Kinda washed out a bit but for now....

EDIT:  deleted picture for a much better one now on page two of this thread

Bob, can you take a picture with the room lights out (or at
least super dim, maybe 20 watt bulbs behind the speakers?),
I bet the equipments' lights would look really cool that way.  :)

Dunedain,

I'll give that a go in the next few days.  Frankly this last shot I'm not happy with at all.... used the wrong mode -:(   BTW I'm using a 4-megapixel Minolta S414.

Randy, you're baiting me!  LOL

For those, unlike Randy, who don't know, that sub employs the driver that was used way back when in multiple horn loaded configurations in a limited number of select theaters to premiere the movie Earthquake.  The 16Hz energy the arrays generated loosened plaster from ceilings and otherwise caused havoc to include being felt outside the respective buildings.  Much more widely known 20 years ago among professional musicians and sound reinforcement specialists, the 189ES 18" driver never saw much audiophile use.  Why?  I think mainly because the manufacturer, Cerwin-Vega, was routinely judged for their more pedestrian offerings.  This driver, however, I consider to have been a diamond in the rough.

I run it crossed over at either 60 or 80Hz (selectable) with my Maggies.  And it unquestionably adds a PUNCH to the music listening experience.  If there is a low note its there.  No false boominess at all.  It moves a LOT of air -:)   Just clean and LOUD!   Matter of fact if placed on a wood or stone floor it'll walk with the downward facing driver actually lifting the enclosure off the floor some,  so carpet is mandatory underneath it.  And no, it's NOT a lightweight cabinet.

Dunedain,

As requested, although no lights were on at all... just the equipment in a darkened daytime room.  Seems the timed exposure picked up enough light to show everything fairly well.  I could have set things for an under-exposure or take a shot at night and may try again some other time -:)

Thanks for trying, Bob.  :)  I guess it will be kind of tricky to get it to work.

The idea being for the room to be very dark, near to black, and get just the equipment displays
to show up bright and clean.  As you said, a shot taken at night with all lights out (and curtains
on any windows closed) and enough exposure time to capture the (relatively) brilliantly lit
displays in detail is what will be needed.

And also, I was referring to a front shot of the speakers (just like the second picture
you posted in the first page of this thread, but a much darker room).  So what you would see
would be these two dark barely-lit speakers towering over the amps with their clean cool deep blue
displays shining in sharp contrast.

I bet it would look GREAT that way.  :)

Dunedain,

Okay, I think we've got it -:)  Granted its not the front on shot with backlite speakers (the lamps behind them are still too bright) but at least we have a dark room with just all the equipment lights (the differences in intensity tend to wash some out so the detail we both wanted ends up with several components very very dim or, as in this shot, several overexposed).

F-100,

I played with a few ideas but ultimately the need to do something quickly eliminated any DIY effort like I have with my equipment rack, so I acquired a pair of Sanus EAFB-II amp stands.  They're rated to hold nearly 200 lbs and can be expanded into a vertical shelving rack.  They seem to do a decent job so no regrets -:)
