Damn Ted. I can only imagine how good your system sounds.

That looks like a nice sized room. One should not under estimate the importance of that.
-
Thanks guys. This is what the room will look like (kinda of, based on my poor Paint capabilities) when finished. We are using all the current substantial Realtrap inventory, the GIK art panels, and then adding a customized treatment system designed by Jeffrey Hedback of Hedback Design (same great acoustic engineer/consultant who did Art's room).
It will include custom corner traps (triangular floor to ceiling, front corners) being installed this Friday, a 400 lb helmholtz resonator wall (already installed two weeks ago and making HUGE sonic improvements in cleaning up the room noise, etc) and a set of wood slat diffusors that will create a huge hanging ceiling cloud (uses clever acoustically inert hangers and foam above slats) and two wall diffusor systems. Above the wall diffusors will be tetrahedral acoustic treatments. My video screen hangs off the non-moving portion of the front resonator wall. I had ideas about instead doing an automated pulldown screen forward of this, to hide the center channel during viewing, but this setup currently fits me eye real well and sounds great so far (and reduces expenses, of course, by using the current Stewart Studiotek 130 screen).

Seriously though, my neighbors to the north called once, but then we had them over for a movie, etc and all is fine now! :D My neighbors to the south were already hip to it (and the music room is on the other side of the house...). :thumb:

COOL....

Wonder where the Cd's are ?

Here is my system. Cherry Minis are powered with Musical Fidelity A5 (250 watts ) Oppo 970h for cd's, SACD's and movies, Sony HD radio
A custom servo subwoofer built by a local friend. 12 inch woofer downward firing.
Very simple, but it sounds fantastic to me! :thumb:

Keep them coming. We know there is more out there.

Half way done. The large floating wall (tuned membrane) is behind the screen; the floor to ceiling corner traps are in, front is painted, Realtrap corner Mondos have been repurposed to the back wall area. Waiting for the ceiling cloud (hanging wood diffusor slats and foam cloud above it) and side wall treatments (wood diffusor slats and tetrahedral treatments as per drawing above). The soundstage is considerably less cluttered, and dynamics have improved (like he Revs needed dynamics improved!! :thumb: )

This thread needed a shot in the arm, so here's a pic.

Hey there Spence. Nice to see you pop up again. Still enjoying the 3.0's I see.
-
Hi, I just bought some Sp3s
-
Its a good thing it sounds better than it looks.

Dig those stands Konut! How close together are your speakers?
What subwoofer is that?
-
Those are Standman stands 34" apart, 29" from the side wall. There are 2 pieces of granite in between the Minis and stands.

Thats an AV123 UFW-12 Hot Rod sub.

That's one impressive setup Ted!!!
Hey Bill,
Good to hear from you! The speakers are sounding great as usual. I don't frequent this forum as much as I used to. Seems it gets a bit quiet around here at times.
-
That is one beautiful space. I can only imagine how great it must sound.
-
Thanks guys. It DOES sound great, thanks to Jeff Hedback's wonderful acoustical makeover, some great Ethan Winer Realtraps, and..of course, Bob Smith's amazing speakers. Dan Wright's monoblocks (Modwright) don't hurt either!! :) My DACs have changed (anyone who knows me is saying "duh!"). :)
If anyone is visiting NE Ohio, ping me for an evening of tunes. See some of you at CES.
-
Jesus Christ, Ted. Room artistry! Fung Shuey baby!
-
My parents live in Strongsville, OH and I visit them many times throughout the year. Would love to get the opportunity to hear your system sometime.
-
It's hard to follow up after seeing Ted's pics, but I'll man up! Here's my little living room space.

Some very cool pictures in this thread. After hearing Roscoe"s Mini SP"s, I'm amazed these speakers aren't more popular. Is Bill still making speakers? He is a super talented designer and I hope he can find funding or a partner to start producing these speakers again.
SP Tech owners are a very fortunate bunch! I'm really liking the looks of those maple speakers.

Bill who? I'm not sure you don't mean Bob Smith, the founder and designer of Aether Audio/SP Tech? If so, then yes, he is still at it, part-time. He is due to deliver a 5.1 set of Continuums to southern Indiana in the next few weeks. I will see him at CES (we have dinner every year there, among other things). He and family are moving out to the country and the new digs has a nice 2 story workshop on the property. I think it will help him do more design work. He is close to partnering with an outsourced enclosure builder, which will help Aether's overall QC, build times, etc.
-
Sorry, Bob Smith! Great news about the developments! He's a talked guy and I'm happy to hear the good news. Your system and room are among my favorites. I hope to hear it in person someday.
Cheers,
Jack
