Not to mention the acoustical horrors of the design. How much do you want to bet that Peter B., auditioned them with the uber priced Audio Note transport, dac, preamp and DHT amps?

That's perspective for ya. That's why the high end is such a small, expensive, and incredibly myopic hobby.

Anand.

PS: Here is a link to Stereophile's measurements of the same/similar speaker but less expensive passive parts, only $12k!, but still a far cry imho of what good acoustical engineering is: http://www.stereophile.com/content/audio-note-e-lexus-signature-loudspeaker-measurements#GIwoogL42ORaGvF6.97

From what I read Audio note licensed Snell's old speaker designs when Snell went to new enclosures. Audio note has developed their own drivers I believe.

I don't know, heard good things about the sound of the AN brand, but way high pricing.

I don't get how Peter can say they image so well when the boxes have such a large flat surface with no treatment whatsoever, plus backed up to the wall. He must be experiencing something, but I can not imagine it would be what I am looking for. The tone maybe?

I think I speak from experience as both owner of Snell Type E speakers that Audio Note bases their classic line on, albeit the Series IV that Kevin Volks revoiced, and have heard the Audio Note speakers on several occasions.  I pretty much agree with what's been said about that product, but these are different, I believe their same drivers in a new design.  Check me on that, not positive.  I heard these so briefly I really couldn't comment, but they were definitely not offensive.  I seem to remember thinking, yup, these are AN's and leaving.  Which isn't all bad if you want a more romantic sound.
