Brian,
Jim Romeyn mentioned, in a recent post, that there will be an update to the RM1, called the RM1a, coming out in mid-October. According to his post, the only change is that the twin 8s are replaced with a 10" woofer. Can you confirm? What will the difference in the sound be between the RM1 and 1a?

Prototypes aren't finished, I will keep you posted.

I had had many requests for a Megawoofer version of the RM1, and I don't make 8" woofers.  I haven't found a satisfactory commercial driver, so I will employ our time-tested 80oz 10" in the RM 1 and see what happens.

How well will that integrate w/o a midbass driver?  Curious...

Any update?  Is there a prototype to listen to yet?

Funny enough, I ordered a pair of these new RM1s. And like he said, they are not done yet. Looking forward in anticipation.

Friend of mine has owned RM1as for 2 and a half years now and is drooling over the out come of 1As. Only upgrade he's done is midrange tweak w/  very positive results.

The RM2 Xs from its Megawoofer 12 directly to the mids, so obviously the same bass motor driving a 10 will perform well Xd to the same midrange.  Any 10 will naturally extend higher than the same motor with a 12, a function of it's lighter & smaller cone.
