The field has not improved by adding another team to the playoffs or another game to the season.  And it's not the best teams, it's the best quarterbacks in the playoffs.  The base defense is now five DBs, two fast linebackers, two edge rushers, and two enormous tackles.  Every pass route is one high low combination with a deep over.  It's all looking very much the same.

So the stupidest decision the NFL has ever made plays itself out this postseason with the neutral site coin flip baloney picking Atlanta as the neutral site.  This all comes from a medical condition suffered by Damar Hamlin on the field after which the Bills said they were too emotionally wrecked to play.  That's a forfeit.  Why anything else is considered is beyond me.  It still hasn't been established what the Bengals actually said about it at the time, but if they also refused to take the field they also forfiet and two loses are recorded for the teams then we move on normally.  Instead we have this insanity playing out, once again confirming the NFL is a fixed deal with predetermined results.  And I don't mean winners are picked by 345 Park Ave, results are predetermined to be close games driving viewers to stay tuned in to the end of the game.  It's a TV show like any other and it's steered just like Survivor and all reality shows are.

it is a business -- for all involved

tweaking a host of variables to make more money first and foremost...

why are we surprised?

that said, we watch the games, at its best, it is a compelling product/experience

After putting me to sleep the 49ers really woke up.
Let's see if the Giants came to play or stand around and get their butts beat.

The Giants showed up to play - good game.

brandon staley is toast (or should be) - sad, pathetic display of coaching and game control -- up 24-0 and you don't run the ball?  then you can't get pass coverage assignments right in the entire second half?  fire the damn defensive coordinator!!! d oh, its the head coach!!!!!!!!!!!  :duh: :duh:

miami - buffalo was exceptionally entertaining...  mcdaniels is very impressive, showed so many flaws in the bills with a zero at quarterback, almost pulled off an upset for the ages

vikes have been a fraud all season... were they playing with 9 guys on d?????  sheesh -- good for giants and dabol... over achievers of the year!

Are they allowed to end in a tie?

And the new slate of games is up with the lower seeds on Saturday with the jaguars and giants facing the bye week league leaders.  Will Daboll continue his coach of the year run against the team he's lost to twice  so far this year?  How healthy Hurts is seems to be the question, I think it's the loss of Lane Johnson at right tackle that makes the most difference.   Jacksonville ends it's run at KC, they did well this year, but the magic stops with Andy Reid.

Bills Bengals is the marquis matchup of the weekend for obvious reasons.  Dallas can't miss four extra points against SF, and I don't expect they'll have the chance against the 49er defense.

Letitroll, I agree with everything you stated. FWIW it sounds like Lane Johnson will be playing, he's been practicing this week and in an interview stated he plans to 'suck it up'. We shall see.......

What a mess last nights game was! TCU could have knocked off the Bucks! A 12-5 team against an 8-9 team with a one dimensional offense? Brady wasn’t BRADY either! Troy and Joe were very generous with their analysis of him “Brady and (insert receiver of choice) aren’t on the same page” bullshit! Brady was all over the place and played horribly! Bad O-line, no run game, and an aging non-athletic QB=disaster! Time for TB12 to hang up the cleats, lick his wounds, bask in his glory days,  and get on with life after Gisele.

Can we start a petition to keep Aikman from ever calling another Cowboy’s game? Put him on the sidelines in mini-shorts, white boots and pom-poms with the rest of the cheerleaders.

Sorry for the rant haven’t had my bran muffin yet!

Predictions: Chiefs, Niners, Iggles, and Bills advance to the Conference Championship games.

What say you?

Yes, this is a safe and accurate prediction.  Further down the road, Bills - Eagles in the final in the desert.

Re TB, he looked forced all night.  Lacked grace, rhythm and that intangible confidence from years past.  Sadly, he's gone too far.  Reminds me of Favre with the Jets.

i agree, these are the 4 best teams, whether they can win one game, we shall see - bengals/bills and niners/cowboys should be quite competitive, the other two maybe not so much - fun weekend coming up!!!
