Pop songs you should have in your rotation collection.

I'll start 'er off with 'I'm Not the Man I Use to be' by Fine Young Cannibals.

Heard the song while at work many years ago. Took me some effort to track down the name of the song and add to my favorites.

Many of the FM Top 40 from the 1960/70s are quite audible today,
except intolerable medallions as Sinatra, Elvis, Edith Piaf, Nana Mouskoury etc

I'll add " She Drives Me Crazy"

I guess we should just list the top 40 from every year. My estimate would be something like 24,000 songs at 3 minutes each for 4 hours a day. That would take approximately 300 days before a repeat in rotation excluding all other genres.

Presently I have some 3000 songs in my rotation that take approximately 37 days before a repeat. So I could probably play each song another 275 times before I die.

But the king of pop was not Elvis?
Or Sinatra or Madonna or Diana Ross or Marvin Gaye or Tina Turner...

MJ wrote all of his songs while Elvis never wrote any. MJ sold over a billion records, even more than the Beatles. Elvis was a great entertainer.

I guess my estimate for pop songs was 10,000 too many. More like 14,000, USA, UK, country pop charts. Listening at approx. 4 hours per day, 60 songs = 233 day before a repeat, doable.

Some songs, I don't know how they became popular, while better IMO less well known songs don't make the pop charts, oh well. :?

MIchael Jackson is my favorite artist of all time.  Him, Elvis, and Freddie Mercury are the holy trinity of male vocalists in my opinion ( Sinatra clocks in at #4).

In more recent category, there's this kid name Charlie Puth.  His new album Voicenotes has 4 songs that I listen to all the time - How Long, Attention, Slow It Down, and Someone Told Me.  They were recorded really well too so they make a great test for more modern digital gear.
