Hello all. A friend has had this tape deck sitting around his house for ages and I'm trying to help him de-clutter. Condition uncertain and don't even have a reel of tape to try it out. He took it somewhere years ago and a repairman told him there was some problem but he doesn't remember what. Was going to put it up in Trading Post, Audiogon, or wherever else suggestions people might have. Was hoping to get some suggestions about what the value might be. The back cover is fiber board so it's obviously not a high-end machine but I know how fanatical these open real devotees are so maybe somebody has a use for it 'as is' for parts. Any advice on who, where, or for how much to sell it appreciated. Maybe its not even worth it as it's big and heavy AF; might cost more than it's worth to ship. Thoughts/suggestions please.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

The power transformer(Tamradio) are very coveted for use in small tube amps.

Given that it is in unknown condition most would not be willing to pay much. Parts, as one would suspect, are difficult to find. There are still some people around that can service it.
Prices on ebay are pretty crazy for similar machines.

There's also Facebook Marketplace and (god help you) CraigsList.
As you said, those suckers weigh a ton so shipping is a consideration.

Yeah, probably best to just try locally. Craigslist is not even in the running. Facebook marketplace may be worth a shot.

I've found craigslist okay as long as you're not selling something like this that not everyone
wants or something like a car.

Is it still available? Where are you located?
