Gallo Strada
« on: 8 Dec 2014, 11:38 pm »
I visited a customer locally who drives his Gallo Stradas with Sensation.

It's hard to believe that Anthony is selling the next gen new for $2k and can be picked up used with stands for under $1,500.

These speakers truly blow me away every time.  They are a sonic and physical work of art.

OzarkTom wast the first to turn me on to them.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One day I will own a pair.

For the money, those are a mighty fine pair of speakers. :thumb:

I had the first gen, after some correspondence with OzarkTom.  They are very impressive upon audition, but I found them to be very fatiguing in the long run.  Eventually I found them so intolerable that I wouldn't play any music for days at a time.  Maybe it was due to something else in the system like Tom thought, but I eventually sold them and have no regrets.

I don't say this to put a wet blanket on your enthusiasm, but in my opinion there are likely serious issues with multi-driver crossover-less speakers that none of the reviews are talking about.  I hope you love yours and continue to love them a year or two into ownership.  Maybe it was just my system.

Oh, my, god.

The "books" came on Thursday while I was traveling for the day-job.  Somehow they got unpacked and broken in over the weekend :-)

The build quality on the desktop stands alone is something to behold.  I'm seeing lots of cast aluminum, gorgeous matte powder paint, beautiful documentation, allen wrenches in the box -- all for "give-away" stands.  The 3-way speakers are smallish and weigh a ton.  Gallo earns his keep with every pair of these gems.  Nowhere to do after some room treatment with these sound shotguns.

Mommy isn't home today and work includes listening to Matisyahu at close range at high SPL.  Too bad the baby naps.

Does not justify but does remind me why I got into this industry ;-)

OzarkTom, I'm a late bloomer.  What can I say?

Mamba,

I tend not to listen long enough to ever get fatigued.  Typically, I look for more information, period.  That's why I like Zu Audio so much as well as WaveTouch Audio.  These seem a bit like that -- lots of information.

But the soundstage on these is huge and they play really, really, really loud without loss of fidelity.  Did  mention that?

One of my other customer is a sound engineer and he loves the focus of WaveTouch  ;-)  They're laser-beams.
