Making the connection

With all the different types of connections I am curious as to the 2.5 vs 3.5. Is the 2.5 balanced a better connection than the 3.5 that isn't balanced. Or does it not make any difference?

Hello,

Are you referring to the small jack thats on a iphone or android etc.

2.5 mm is sometimes refered to as 3.5mm??

Just want to make sure we are talking about the same connection or connector?

Headphone cables.
Got 3.5 goin into the dac/amp and the phones have 2.5 going into them.
The headphones I have (400S) have 2.5 connections that they call balanced.
The new 400S have 3.5 headphone connections and are stated as mono (jack per side)
but don't state they are balanced. Just curious if balanced is supposed to be better.

Don to the best of my knowledge, the difference between SE and balanced is slight if any at all.

Depending on how the circuit is designed and the rest of the amp is...a balanced output could be "quieter" due to the
wasy the grounds are laid out.

Thats it in a nutschell AFAIK.

That said, I have both balanced and unbalanced here and can not tell any difference at all.

There also is the "advantage" of more power in a balanced setting....which could help if your headphones need it?
