2B LP PRO vs. BP60R
« on: 25 May 2018, 09:19 pm »
Attention James Tanner and anyone else who can possibly answer this question. I am looking at the 2B LP PRO. I do not need preamp features. Is it sonically the equal of the BP60R? I really would like the opportunity to save some money, but at the same time i am trying to get a great sounding amp. Any thoughts? Thanx.

Hi

Yes the amplifier section of the B60 is the same as the 2B-LP Pro

Hi Nordkapp

You may received your 2BLP by now but JFYI I did a few comparisons over the years...this thread from 2010 covers a few
https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=106516.msg1091342#msg1091342

As James mentioned the amp sections are of a similar circuit design..... the post 2001 B60s had an update on their output transistors so a slight change but the little (now classic) 2BLP pro offers a lot of flexibility and still cherished by many.

I'm using my current one to run my Dynaudio surrounds but it can also double as a powerful head-amp...in this setup the BHA-1 acts as the pre-amp. :thumb:

Hey guys. Actually I gave it more thought and realized my weakest system link was my source-a PC running JRiver. So I decided to finally breakdown and buy a BDP-3!! My present amps are actually good (Channel Islands Audio D200 mk2 and BHA-1). So at the end of the day, I believe the dedicated file player will really round out my system. I still may go with the 2B LP PRO one day, but not any time soon. Thanks. Mike.

How's your French?

Pas Mal : )

Nice to see the little “matter of fact” Bryston getting some more recognition…let mine go a few years ago as I felt the BHA-1 with the 2PLP pro covered all the bases if I ever needed to downsize to enter a retirement home..lol

There was another recent review also…April 24, 2018
https://www.themasterswitch.com/review-bryston-b60r
“That’s why we’ve ranked it so highly in our best stereo amps list. We’ve even placed it above models from manufacturers like McIntosh, Anthem, Rotel and Marantz. It’s the amp that keeps on giving. It’s a real workhorse that will never quit on you, that will power anything you throw at it, that will keep delivering excellent sound for a good twenty years down the track. We aren’t joking when we say this is still one of the best amplifiers available, and, if you really want to invest in your system, it’s one you should absolutely consider. ..........”

and.... I was almost tempted to grab a used B60 with built in phone recently but locked my wallet away. : )

Seriously though ....for any senior aged Bryston aficionado who needs to downsize or new audio enthusiast wishing to jump on board the B60 make the most logical sense.  :thumb:

Wow!  It's great to see reviews still coming in from time to time on the B-60.  What a great integrated amp!  I am thinking of building a second system on this amp and perhaps Ryan 610 speakers.  I hope Bryston keeps the B-60 around for a long time.  To tell you the truth, in IMHO, the little integrated sounds better than the 135 in most appropriate systems.  Good going Bryston.  They say it's not "pretty" strangely enough I think it is.

Query:  how is it doing sales numbers-wise?

Hi Joe

It sells consistently but not a lot of units as I think most people want more power and its just too old a product time wise to be really good aye! :icon_lol:
