Sonos W4S mods and Isabella/DAC
« on: 16 Nov 2013, 08:29 pm »
Hi,

I'd be very interested to hear if anyone else runs Sonos into their RWA DAC, especially if they have experience of the Wired4Sound mod. For a start I'd like to know if its 48K output is compatible with the standard (non-Pro) DAC in my recently acquired second hand Isabella.

Cheers!

I have used the Sonos output directly into my Bellina for some time. It sounds great as is and Sonos is such a handy way to "store" my music that I use it almost exclusively over perhaps somewhat more "high res" sources I have on hand. I've been thinking about the W4S mod also and I like their products. Hopefully, someone will chime in with a before and after comparison to help us decide.

Just a compatibility statement would be useful!

Hi Vital,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

Yes, 48K output is compatible with the non-PRO Bellina dac.  Actually, the non-PRO version is
fine up to 96kHz and will handle that natively (no upsampling or anything like that) via the coax
or optical inputs.

Hi CSI,

Thanks for your post!

All the best,

Vinnie

Hi Vinnie,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

That's handy, I'll see if I can get hold of a demo W4S unit here in the UK and see if it lifts the performance of the Sonos.

If I find out, I'll post my findings.

Cheers,
Ian
