You Don't Know What You've Got Till Its Gone
« on: 20 Jan 2014, 11:03 pm »
I have been having all kinds of problems with my battery powered Mac Mini
I talked to Dave and mentioned there may be a problem with my Battery Buss, without hesitation he said send it back and he'd take a look at it, the Buss is at least two years old, it didn't matter Dave said send the thing back it should last my lifetime
At the same time I was also having problems with my Ctek battery charger, again I sent that back to Ctek and they gave me a replacement, so I've been listening for a few days without the Battery Buss which brings me to the you don't know what you've got till it's gone
What happened to the tonality I grew to love, quiet right quiet you really don't know what that means until it's taken out
The soundstage collapsed somewhat, rythem and pace isn't what it was
Dave said he is sending the Buss back today, I'll be camped out at the front door waiting for UPS....did I mention the thing is over 2 years....This is customer service fellow ACers

Couldn't agree more, good customer service is the best, and seldom seen these days.

Haven't tried the battery power to the mac mini yet, will check it out.

Was there actually an issue with it?

I don't have the technical details, but Dave said it wasn't measuring like it should

I see.  Wonder what the issue was.

I'm not at all surprised Dave would do this, that's the kind of guy I know him to be.  BTW I've owned two CTEK's and both crapped out still under warrantee. They did replace them no issues but a pain.

The problem appears to be the voltage reference in the 5V regulator.  I thought it might be a leaky cap, but on testing they all proved to be OK.

Being the perfectionist that he is, I'm sure Dave had a tweek for the unit after 2 years
and had to bring it up to full potential.

Don (late as usual)
