Title: Atmos?
Post by: tknx on 11 Jan 2017, 10:44 pm
Is anyone doing those upward facing speakers for Atmos? Is it worth it at all?

I rent, so no ceiling mounts for me.

Jim - was wondering if you had built any of those weird angled speakers to sit on top of your L/Rs?

One could certain put other Salks and fire them upward at any angle based on where they are placed (e.g. http://www.salksound.com/model.php?model=SongSurround+I  on top of speakers with a small tilt up via something under the speaker.  Don't know if for Dolby Atmos speakers if one would hear tons of difference with other decent Atmos speakers.  I have in-ceilings but went with Axioms to use with my Thiels.  For specific Atmos speakers there are Elacs and I'm sure others designed for that purpose.

I have an auro 3d/atmos setup using book shelf speakers on tall stands. Yes, you should do it. As for atmos upfacing speakers it is better than nothing. Did you know you can connect small speakers to the ceiling using velcro industrial tape?

These would work great with a little velcro industrial tape
