Bryston BPD 1 Outputs

Hi Guys,

I have the older Bryston BDP 1 music server which I use mainly to listen to Tidal and stored music from a hard drive. I've bought a new preamplifier which only accepts USB, Optical and RCA inputs for the digital section (it has an internal DAC).

I am wondering if I can buy a specialty cable whereby it is terminated at one end using a BNC and the other with an RCA.  I could then use the Bryston with my new Preamplifier.  Would this work?

Cheers Rod

Bryston also did a cable - perhaps it's worth asking if you can buy it still

If you have a spare USB cable around you could try the USB interface, manic moose is capable talking to many USB audio interfaces.

I used one of those BNC adapters.  Works great.

So well in fact that I rue that the world uses RCA instead of BNC.

USB is two way communication, data goes in both directions.  You can plug your USB audio Interface into the BDP and check audio devices settings page to see if it appears.

Hi Chris,

My BPD1 was the first generation one and didn't have USB output. Are you saying that I can use the USB input on the rear panel and connect it to my preamp/dac?

Btw the BDP1 is in with my dealer and he's trying to setup Tidal for me. I've tried everything I know to get it working but since the last software update I can't get Tidal to work.
